Adolescent & Family Therapy
Adolescents
The adolescent years can be very challenging for adults and teens alike. Teens are focused on figuring out who they are and how they fit into the world. This process often involves risky behaviors and the desire to pull away from parents and family. This dynamic can cause considerable conflict and upheaval. My work with teens focuses on helping them feel safe to share their experiences. I offer the wisdom of an adult perspective, but in a package they are less likely to reject. Teens need to feel that they have a safe space to discuss their worries, and their privacy is crucial to the success of the therapy. With the teen's permission, parents are included in sessions in an effort to improve communication and restore family harmony. Families Family therapy involves multiple members of a family (adults, teens, children). At times, everyone participates in a session. There are also times when I will meet with various configurations, such as the adults without the children, the children together, or one parent and one child. |
